It also includes an overview of how to plan for results, advocate for constituents, and communicate the Board's plan. Finally, the publication presents a running example of a board's strategic planning process and resulting governance action plan. Creating the Future builds upon an earlier FNESC resource -- Effective Board Governance: A Handbook for Board Members and Administrators for First Nations' Boards. That first publication defined the governance role and seven key governance responsibilities of a board, and explained how those differ from the role and responsibilities of the organization's executive director.
